Chapter 25 - Unbreakable

Narrator's perspective:

Weeks passed by very fast to everyone except for Reem, she is still depressed after what happened to her father. College had started for both girl and they have been very busy with their homeworks and tests. Elyazyh would visit her every now and then, check on her.
Reem's mother: " Reem sweety wake up, you're going to be late for your class."

Reem hid her face under the blanket, not wanting to get up.

Reem: " Five more minutes."

Her mom removed the blanket from her bed, opened the curtains and closed the AC. Yes we all hate it when someone does that to us especially when we are sleeping. Reem jumped out of bed frustrated at her mother's reaction.

Reem didn't bother greeting any of her friend she just went directly to her class. It's been the third time she was late to class.

Professer: " Reem since the day you came to college and you never arrive on time! You're not allowed to enter the class now get out!"

She got out and sat in the reception, ignoring everyone who's gossiping about her. Ever since everyone heard that her father passed away they kept on saying " Isn't that girl whose father died?" "Look at her, she's so untidy". Reem couldn't handle what they were saying so she would go to the bathroom cry her eyes out. She would even skip classes and go to Dubai Mall alone.

She grabbed a chocolate bar from her bag and start eating until she heard a familiar voice. Reem turned around and saw Nasser talking to some of his friends. He took a glance at her then said something to his friend and came towards her.

Nasser: " Hey Reem long time no see. How are you doing?"

She looked up at him with tears filling her eyes and did not respond as she might break down anytime soon. He took a seat beside her and wondered what's wrong with her.

Nasser: " Whats wrong Reem? Do you want me to take you to a hospital?"

She got up still ignoring him and ran up the stairs. He called her name couple of times but she didn't reply. Her gaze was fixed on the ground while she was walking, not making any eye contacts with anyone until she hit something hard like a wall.

Reem's perspective:

At this moment all I want is for the ground to swallow me alive. All this is too much for me to handle, it's like my heart has been replaced by a rock. The pain keeps on following me wherever I go not leaving my side. People gossiping about me right in front of me but all I did was be quiet. I feel so weak without him, it's like everything is crashed over me. Memories of the past is haunting me, pulling me back to depression. If only my father was here everything would be great. I miss him.

Mayed: " Reem what are you doing here?"

I looked at him trying to find the right words to say. I couldn't speak it was like my lips are sealed or maybe I didn't want to. I know that if I spoke I'm going to cry. I looked around and saw some girls staring and pointing at us as they're talking. For the first time I didn't care what they will think I just shoved everything they said out of my mind.

Me: " N..Nothing just wandering around."

I said as I breathed heavily.

Mayed: " Come with me."

I didn't pronounce a thing and just followed him.

Girl 1: " Look at her skipping classes to go out with her boyfriend."

Girl 2: " I don't know what he sees in her, I think I might puke any second now."

We stopped then watched Mayed as he went to the girls.

Mayed: " Look at yourself before judging other people."

Girl 2:" El7mdila I'm perfect."

He laughed at her face.

Mayed: " You just made me laugh! From what I'm seeing you're not even close to being perfect."

We both left as he left her staggered and surprised.

Narrator's perspective:

Mayed: " Did someone tell you anything or hurt you?"

Reem sat there quietly staring at the coffee. She doesn't feel like talking, it was like her lips were sealed.

Mayed: " Reem look at me."

She glanced at him still not saying anything. Shivers run down her spine when he looked her right in the eye.

Mayed: " Why were you crying?"

It was like he can read her and Reem hated that. She hated the fact that all her emotions are shown no matter how much she tried to hide them.

Reem:" I wasn't crying now can I go back I'm going to be late?"

Mayed: " It's not like you havent been late for class before nor skipped them. Am I right?"

Reem: " What so now you spy on me?"

Mayed: " Maybe, now tell me what's wrong with you?"

Reem: " Listen Mayed I really appreciate the fact that you care about me, but I have other important things to do."

Mayed: " Well I don't care if you do have or not. Sit back down and tell me end of discussion."

Reem: " What do you want me to tell you? That people talk about me behind my back and that I'm the girl whose father passed away. I have no one I feel so lonely without him!"

She began crying allowing everything that has been trapped inside her heart out.

Mayed: " Reem stop crying, they're not worth your tears. You should ignore whatever they say, it is rubbish. I may not know how you feel but I'm here for you. Talk to me anytime you want, I wont go anywhere."

He wiped away her tears and sat upstraight.

Mayed: " Now let me see that smile!"

Reem: " No!"

Mayed: " I SAID SMILE!"

Reem: " *smiling* Happy ?"

Mayed: " Of course I am. Look at the time I'm going to be late. Thanks for wasting my time with your drama and now good bye I have better things to do."

Reem: " You-"

She wanted to curse him but he immediately interrupted her.

Mayed: " Don't say it we all know it's you."

He laughed and left the coffee shop leaving Reem standing there like a lost puppy.

Reem whispering: " 7ywaan!"
